The Rossoneri have a list of nine players whose futures are yet to be determined, including Rafael Leao, Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot, leaving recently appointed Milan manager Ruben Amorim with a rebuilding task.
Amorim has 9 possible transfer options at Milan
The 2025-26 season ended on a very disappointing note for Milan, who missed out on Champions League qualification despite spending most of the season in second place.
A slump in form during the finals in the final week of the season led to the resignations of head coach Massimiliano Allegri, sporting director Igli Tare, technical director Geoffrey Moncada and CEO Giorgio Furlani. All dismissed with one brutal statement The day after the Serie A campaign ended.
It took Milan a few weeks to make a new decision, but they have since signed the former Manchester United and Sporting CP tactician. Allegri’s successor will be Amorim. New directors have not yet been appointed.
The new manager already has a list of nine players whose futures need to be sorted out as a priority before he can start thinking about potential signings.
Perhaps the biggest question for Milan is Leo’s future, as he made it clear in a series of interviews during the off-season: he feels ready to take on new challenges elsewhere.
The problem is finding a willing buyer. La Gazzetta dello Sport Milan insist they are still hoping for a €50 million transfer fee if they sell the Portugal international this summer.

La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that Amorim may not be the best fit for Leo as head coach, especially if he deploys his usual 3-4-2-1 formation, which may not make the most of Leo’s characteristics.
Moreover, it remains to be seen what Luka Modric will decide to do after the 2026 World Cup. He joined Milan on a free transfer last summer and signed a one-year contract with an option to extend, but left behind a number of signings. Pointing to him, this could be the end of his playing career. I will be 40 years old this summer.

Then there is Rabiot, who was brought to the club by former Juventus manager Allegri last summer. Allegri has since been replaced by Antonio Conte as Napoli manager, and Rabiot continues to be linked with joining the Stadio Maradona’s trusted leadership.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan have no intention of letting Christian Pulisic go this summer, but the fact that he has yet to put pen to paper on a new contract is not a particularly encouraging sign.
The USMNT star’s contract runs until 2027, with the club having an option for a further 12 months, so there is still time to negotiate a renewal, with US-based owner Jerry Cardinal said to be particularly keen on keeping ‘Captain America’.

There are also suspicions surrounding goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who is often rumored to be moving to a big-money club in Europe. La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that a season without Champions League football and uncertainty at executive level is not particularly appealing to the Frenchman.
There are also returning loan players who are unlikely to regain their place in the Rossoneri’s first team. These include Samuel Chukwueze, who could still make a permanent move to Fulham, Ismael Bennacer, who is due to return from Dinamo Zagreb, Yunus Moussa, who is due to return from Atalanta, and Warren Bond, who is due to return from Cremonese.
