Carlos Augusto is looking forward to another “battle” against Fluminense at the FIFA Club World Cup, and Cristian Chivu has given him more freedom than Simone Inzaghi without fear of committing a foul.

Nerazzurri has advanced to the knockout stage of the United States tournament after winning the group.

Their next fixture will kick off at 19.00 UK time (20.00 CET) in 16 rounds against the Brazilian Fulminence on Monday, June 30th.

“It’s going to be special for us and Luis Henrique because we know Fulminence well and we know what we can expect,” Brazil International Carlos Augusto told La Gazzetta delo Sports.

“It’s going to be a very difficult match at least as hard as the river board, and aside from the physicality of that match, we beat the river thanks to our techniques and need more for the flu.

The 2-0 victory over the River Plate was perhaps the most eerie of the Club World Cup ever, almost finished with a brawl involving Denzeldan Fries.

“You often see such a game with the Copa Libertador! That’s part of the fun of the game. We gave a hit for a hit and then scored in the right moment. There was a bit of tension at the end, but there was no major tension.”

Grit and lack of determination were accusations aimed at Inter after the final 5-0 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

There’s already been a change in attitude from the bench as former Nerazuri defender Chibu is at the helm.

“We need to remember what was wrong all the time.

“I didn’t have much time to work with Chivu, but players on this team know each other well, so it doesn’t take long to stay connected with some changes. He looked at the riverbed, when he regained the ball, he became more vertical, and when he lost ownership, perhaps more resolved.

“That is important too, and we are given the freedom to fight without fear of committing a foul, and we are trying to feel more freedom in that sense.

It’s not a completely unsurprising criticism of Inzaghi. Inzaghi is famous for substituting the player shortly after he receives the yellow card, and fears he will be left with 10 people.

Louis Henrique was brought in from Olympic Marseille this summer and is currently one of the few right-footed athletes on the inter-team.

“Here we have a great community of left footers like DiMarco, me, me, and Aserbi, and it’s still Carbony.

“We are both proud of our origins. Lewis has great players, real Brazilian talent and needs a bit of time.”

He was impressed with Inter, but it was only recently that Carlos Augusto received a call from his new coach, Carlo Ancelotti, for the national team.

“We spoke Italian. If necessary, we can help him translate into Portuguese, even if he can communicate more or less in Spanish. His staff is learning the language at the speed of light. That’s a good sign.
