Denzel Dumfries of Inter Milan Wingback is proud to have the opportunity to work for Christian Chib of San Silo.
In his latest interview via Fcinternews, Dutchman outlined Inter’s Champions League ambitions.
Nerazzurri will launch its first European campaign under Cristian Chivu tomorrow.
Certainly, San Siro Powerhouse will take on Ajax at the start of the 2025/26 league phase.
It’s not just about returning to his hometown. It’s a chance to renew his hostilities with the Lancers, as he previously played for PSV Eindhoven.
Meanwhile, Chivu returns to his old stomping ground.
The 44-year-old played for Ajax between 1999 and 2003 before moving to Serie A and joining Rome.
But now it’s a distant memory.
Chivu is about to make his administrative debut in the Champions League.
In fact, the 44-year-old will coach Inter tomorrow in his first match at the top table in Europe.
Denzel Dumfries welcomes Milan Boss Christian Chibb
“I’m happy to share that past,” Denzel Dumfries said. “I’ve seen Chiv’s face on the wall here. We know about the Dutch soccer school.
“Ajax is always on the good side. They also have a lot of individual qualities. I follow the start of the season and they have a good idea of how to play.
“We lost two of three, but we didn’t start the way we wanted it to. But we have a lot of experience. We’ve played together for a long time.
“There’s another competition right now. We have to start off well. It’s all dependent on us. We have to show that we are worthy of ourselves.
“We lost two games, which is a shame, but everyone knows him as the winner and he tries to hand it over to the players.
“We set a good example and tried to start Serie A. We’re happy to have him as our coach.”
He then confirmed that he and Chib had never met in the latter era in the Netherlands.
“No, but in the Netherlands he’s a very famous name. I was too young to see him play.”
Champions League goals and domestic struggles

“We play and win the Champions League. We have a great team,” added Dumfries. “For me, that’s not something that’s going to do better than last year.
“We’re a big club and we can win the Champions League. But it’s a tough competition and we have to give everything from tomorrow.”
Asked why Ajax feared Intel, he replied.
“The Champions League is a huge competition and I want to celebrate Shirts. I want to win tomorrow.”
However, Dumfries also admitted that Inter wasn’t at the best of the season.
“We didn’t start the league the way we wanted,” he insisted. “But it is up to us to improve and find the right motivation.
“We are a team with great experiences and personalities, and we look at each other.
The defensive issue plagued Inter in a match between Udinese and Juventus.
“Yes, we talked about the goals we’ve let go, and for me, we need to read the match better.
“We played really well against Juve, for example. If you look at the possessions, we did what we had envisioned.
“But we admitted at the wrong moments, hopefully we will learn to better manage those moments in upcoming games.
“When I looked at the game against Juve, there was a situation where I was able to easily acknowledge my goals.
“We told ourselves we needed to work on it and improve it, but our style of play was dominant, and we lost it in detail.
“But we have experience and we know how to bounce back.”
