Soccer Italia expert Alfredo Pedula has pointed out the “serious flaws” in Juventus’ defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night, claiming that fan favorite Kenan Yildiz “couldn’t get into the heart of the game”.
Juventus lost 1-0 to 15-time Champions League winners Real Maldido at the Bernabéu on Wednesday night, but despite the scoreline it was a highly encouraging performance in the Spanish capital.
Juventus had chances to take the lead and equalize after being behind, but neither could convert in the biggest moments in front of goal.
Peduja, Real Madrid 1-0 against Juventus: “Brave”
The defeat leaves Juventus 25th in the Champions League standings, with the Bianconeri without a win in seven competitive games, but manager Alfredo Peduja suggests there are some positives to take from Juve’s performance in Madrid.
Analyzing last night’s match on Football Italia’s YouTube channel, Pedulla said: “Juventus played well, it was a brave game. But they had a crucial flaw in not taking advantage of their chances both in the first half and in the second half.”
“Juventus maintained control of the game and, apart from a great save from Di Gregorio on Mbappe, took few risks in the first half, an encouraging team performance considering the recent difficulties and criticism that had arisen.”
A slight change for Igor Tudor meant that Teen Copeminers and Weston McKennie had some decent performances in midfield, but fans didn’t see as much of Yildiz as they had expected.
“The team was well prepared, even if it was clear that it wasn’t the best Real. But tonight it wasn’t the best Real because of an amazing move by Juve, with Coop Miners in midfield and McKennie a little further forward.”
“Kop Meiners played his role, the defense covered well and Vlahovic did a lot of work for the team. Meanwhile, in my opinion, Yildiz was on the edge. He couldn’t get into the middle of the game as much as he could and generally should have.”
“Real didn’t create many chances, but Juve continued to take control of the game. It’s disappointing that the score was 0-0 at half-time.”
