Florence, Italy – April 17: Manager of ACF Fiorentina’s Raffaele Palladino will respond during the final second leg match of ACF Fiorentina and NK Celje’s UEFA Conference League 2024/25 quarter 2024 at Stadio Artemio Franchi held in Italy on April 17, 2025. (Photo: Gabriele Maltinti/Getty Images)
Raffaele Palladino warns Fiorentina that “we need to improve” against Real Betis in the Conference League semi-finals, but enters the ugly line with Celje coach Albert Riera. “We need respect.”
It was ultimately a happy birthday for the coach, but despite winning his first leg 2-1 in Slovenia, he had his nails bitten during the quarterfinals of the Studio Artemio Off Ranch.
The Rolando Mandragora opener was quickly cancelled and turned around by Aljosa Matko and Klemen Nemanic Header, but Moise Kean attacked again, sending 4-3 in the collective.
“There are some positives, but there are a lot of things that need to be improved,” Palladino told Sky Sport Italia.
“We achieved our goal by reaching the semi-finals, but we have to learn from these mistakes. We can’t stop playing and allow our opponents to take the initiative.
“What we lack is our ability to deal with different moments of a match. Every time we pay a huge price for our first distraction. We still sat deep after taking the lead, so we need to understand that we can’t change that nature.”
Palladino expects better from the European Fiorentina

Keene continues his amazing campaign as he scores 23 goals with three assists in Fiorentina’s 39 competitive games.
“I know how much praise and confidence I have for Moys. He’s had an incredible season and I’ve seen his quality again with today’s goal. I love that Moys has always had the right attitude, regardless of goal. He’ll lead his teammates,” added Palladino.
Fiorentina reached the European Cup from 1957 to 1962, and advanced to the Conference League semi-finals for the second time in a row with two Cup Winners Cups.
They will face the real Betis in the next round as the Spaniards beat Jagielonia 2-0 before tonight’s 1-1 home draw.

“Mentality is fundamental. Contrary to the top team, concentration must be at 110%. For the so-called small aspects, risk is taken for granted and stop paying attention to detail.
“Knowing how good Betis is doesn’t need to motivate players. I want to go all the way in this competition.”
There was tension right after the final whistle at the touchline, and coach Albertiera seemed to be in discussion with members of the Fiorentina bench.
This continued in the press room, where Riella complained at his meeting.
“I went with his hand, Palladino I spoke too much, our team is worth 13 million euros, while Fiorentina is worth 300 million euros. He is younger than me and there is much to learn, that was not a good action.
“Maybe one day I’ll be on the side bench worth 300 million euros and he’ll be on the side worth 13 million euros, then we’ll see what happens.”
When the Studio Franchi journalist told Palladino about this, his response was Frosty.
“I don’t even want to hear what he has to say, I’m not interested. I need respect among my colleagues. He didn’t have it on his first leg, so I told him I should.”
