Milan had to be late again before installing the comeback. Ultimately, they secured a unique goal by Morten Friendlap, who overturned Vitanya’s opener thanks to Rafael Leon.

Rossonelli completed yet another turnaround despite not being in top condition. Genoa’s fragile confidence (bearing two consecutive defeats) contributed to the rapid collapse.

This is the player’s rating.

Genoa 1-2 Milan: Player ratings

Genoa: Leali 6; Sabelli 6 (46’Zanoli 6), De Winter 5.5, Vasquez 5.5, Martin 6.5; Masini 6, Frendrup 5.5; Norton-Cuffy 5.5, Messias 6 (60’Vitinha 6.5), Thorsby 5.5 (72′ Ahanor 5); Pinamonty 6.

The best Genoa player: Vitinha 6.5 made an instant impact, giving him the opportunity to score points for the first time in three games. Unfortunately for him, his first goal for his season has ultimately proven insignificant.

Lowest Genoa Rating: Ahanaor 5 – His introduction marked the beginning of Genoa’s collapse. His Santiago Guimenez proved to be particularly expensive.

Genoa Coach: Patrick Vieira 5.5 – His side appears to be able to bounce off difficult spells up to the Milan equalizer, showing the characters and strength that defined much of their performance at the beginning of the season. But two quick lapses of focus have brought their good work back to their end, adding to their recent brooding run.

Milan: Maignan 6.5; Tomori 6.5 (79′ Walker n/a), Gabia 6, Pablovic 5.5; Jimenez 5.5 (70′ Joao Felix 6), Reijnders 6.5, Fofana 6 (28′ Leao 7), Theo Hernandez 6; Pulisic 6 (79′ Musah n/a), Loftasteak 6.5; Jovic 5.5 (70′ Gimenez 6.5).

Best Milan Player: Leao 7 – As was often the case this season, he responded to his coach’s decision to rule him out by showing a strong determination to prove him wrong – and did so with the offensive sharpness that he often lacks when he starts. His involvement in both goals once again underscored his importance to Milan’s offensive play.

Lowest Milan rating: Pavlovic 5.5 – His ti-sick defense, which is hesitant than usual, was costly in a match where his side was already struggling to keep his enemies away from the box.

Milan coach: Sergio Concijo 6 – Although it appears to be barely left in the Serie A and European spots, Rossonelli once again showed two sides over the course of 90 minutes. Their recent momentum certainly helps the COPPA Italia Finals, but they will need above average performance to overcome Bologna.
