Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has effectively confirmed that Rafael Leao and Christopher Nkunku will start against Roma tomorrow, but admitted it is “not easy” to “get into Leo’s heart”.

Milan welcome Roma to the San Siro on Sunday night in a big match in Round 10 of Serie A.

The Rossoneri come into this match having drawn their second consecutive game, while Roma are top of the table and boast the league’s least losing defense.

The Giallorossi share top spot with Napoli and Allegri says they deserve that position.

“Yes, they have only conceded four goals, but they always give the feeling that they can score,” the Rossoneri coach said at a press conference via Milan News.

“I don’t know if they will stay at the top, but I know they need to get consistent results.”

Allegri is set to reunite with former Juventus star Paulo Dybala tomorrow.

“His qualities are well known. He came to Turin when he was 21 years old and has developed a lot. His scoring rate is excellent, he knows how to play football and makes few mistakes when it comes to shooting on target,” the Milan coach said.

“Sule is also doing well. Roma also have Pellegrini and Cristante. It’s no coincidence that they are leaders in the table.

“It’s always difficult to play against Gasperini’s teams. It’s common to play Djuric and Gasperini’s teams in quick succession. Tuesday’s match in Bergamo was the most physical match of the season.”

“Tomorrow will be based on technical management of the ball,” continued Allegri.

“If we make too many mistakes with the ball, like we did in Bergamo, the opponent gains momentum. We have to be better at managing the ball tomorrow.”

Allegri has confirmed that Pulisic and Santiago Jimenez will be absent, so Leo and Nkunku are likely to start in attack.

Coach Allegri said, “I’m interested too. Sometimes unexpected solutions are found. Both of us are good at soccer, so I think we’ll work well together.”

“It’s not easy to understand how Leo feels. He did great in the first month, but then he got injured. He’s doing better now. He’s still not 100% fit, but it’s important that he has a certain attitude.”

Milan’s Luka Modric will once again start from the center of the park.

“He’s fine. In the first half in Bergamo we made a lot of technical mistakes and we had to run behind them. Luka has improved. He’s a player that will be helpful for the team.”

Finally, Coach Allegri spoke about Luciano Spalletti’s appointment as Juventus’ new coach and the title fight.

“We wish him the best of luck. Considering the teams, Napoli and Inter are still the favorites to win[the Scudetto]. And there are groups competing for the top four: Milan, Juventus, Roma, Lazio. Bologna, like Como, are also doing well. In the end, the best will win.”

“We must never lose sight of our goal of getting back to the Champions League. We need balance and we must not get discouraged after two draws in a row. We need consistency if we are to fight until March for the top four. The first few months of the season are the foundation on which we will lay the foundations for the second half of the season. We must act, not think.”
