Lega Serie A President Enzo Simonelli has confirmed that Inter Milan and Napoli title playoffs are in San Siro at the moment.
Speaking to reporters, via FCINTERNEWS, Simonelli also suggested that the playoffs could be eliminated if one of the teams enters the Champions League final.
The Serie A title race is scheduled to go on the final day of the season.
Inter Milan is one point behind Napoli at the top of the league table.
Nerazzurri was still able to finish the level with points at Partenopei. For this to happen, Napoli will need to draw with Como tomorrow in the final league match of the season while Napoli loses to Cagliari.
If that happens, the Serie A title falls into the direct playoffs between Inter and Napoli.
President Serie A: “At this point, we’re playing off the Napoli title at San Siro.”
The playoff outlook for the title between Inter and Napoli creates a headache for Legasserie A.
First, there is the question of where the match will take place.
The league set up the match to take place at a home stadium with excellent head-to-head.
That would be Inter Milan. Therefore, the match will take place at Sanshiro.
However, recent reports show that the match could be played at the Rome Studio Olimpico, for reasons of “public order.”
“At this point, the playoffs will be in Milan.”
“The rules state that games will be played with excellent goal differences at team stadiums.”
“Rome is only possible if there is a provision from the Ministry of Home Affairs to prohibit Naples’ fans from traveling to away matches,” Simonelli detailed.
“However, there is no such provision at this time.”
“If the team is on the table on Friday evening at 23.00, I think the playoffs will be at 20.45 in San Siro, Milan,” said President Legasserie A.
Simonelli suggests changes to the Champions League playoffs

Meanwhile, the fact that Inter is in the Champions League final has created an additional scheduling headache for the league.
Naturally, Nerazzurri wants to have as much time resting and preparing for that match as possible.
Thus, Inter pushed them to bump into the final match of the Napoli season. They wanted today’s match to be played, but instead they’ll be tomorrow.
This means that if a playoff occurs, it will take place on Monday.
That was five days before the Champions League final. It’s hardly ideal in terms of giving you time to prepare for a clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
Lega Serie A President Simonelli called the playoffs “high sportsmanship.”
“It’s not ideal to award the title in a season where every team has had a major sacrifice in 38 games on the difference in goals.”
“When we decided to introduce the playoffs, it was a good decision. From a sport and media perspective.”
“It’s a shame we’ve collided with such a fierce fixture list this season,” Simonelli continued.
“And the inters where the team plays in the Champions League Finals.”
A meeting to discuss the future of the Scudetto playoffs

The president of Legasserie A updated the following saying, “There will be a meeting to discuss on June 6th.”
“But in my opinion, we should continue the playoffs. That’s a good thing.”
However, Simonelli added, “I’ll introduce the rules.”
“If one of the two teams in the playoffs also appears in the Champions League finals, we go back to the old rules of a real difference from the real to the difference.”
“That way, we will protect the league’s competitiveness, but we will not be punished by teams playing in the European trophy.”
“If there’s an exceptional case like this season, the team that wins according to the old standards will win.”
