Edoardo Bove wrote an emotional farewell message to the cities of Fiorentina, Florentina and Florence almost ten months after his horrific cardiac arrest that kept him out of the game with a nasty scene in a match with Inter in December 2024.

The Serie A match between Fiorentina and Inter stopped shortly after kickoff when Bove collapsed from the ball to the floor and appeared to be unconscious.

The 23-year-old, who was rented out at Fiorentina with the option to buy from Rome at the time, was rushed to a hospital, temporarily admitted to intensive care, and later installed a defibrillator device.

Bove has since miraculously returned to full health, but the strict rules and regulations surrounding Italian heart problems mean that it is still impossible to continue his career in Serie A.

He will not be able to play on Italy’s top flights with defibrillator devices, but may be able to do so overseas, similar to Christian Eriksen, who joined Brentford after leaving the Inter after leaving the Inter in 2021 following cardiac arrest.

Bove finally says goodbye to Fiorentina

At the time of the medical emergency, Bove was on loan from Fiorentina with the option to purchase from Roma. The loan transaction has since expired and Fiorentina has not exercised its purchase options. In other words, Bove remains a Roman player even if he can’t influence the pitch.

The former Italian Youth International visited Viola Park earlier this week to say goodbye to some of her former colleagues and then posted a message to supporters on their social media platforms.

“Dear ACF Fiorentina, thank you from the bottom of my heart,” Bove wrote. “You were there for me throughout the most difficult times of my life. I will never forget that. We have definitely tried it, but I don’t think our story has ended here.

“Dear Fioretini, in such a short time, you were able to occupy a special place in my heart. I will always carry me and your unconditional love. Our warrior spirit will never be tamed.

“Dear Florence, I reached my weakness and you quickly made me feel at home. Then I fell and you gave me the strength to stand up. I am forever grateful.”
