Legendary former Milan midfielder Rudo Garritto “feels that he has to win ‘Coppa Italia’ to save the season,” after spending turbulent time with his 2024-25 campaign.
Milan will play “away” against San Siro rival Inter on Wednesday night for the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals. The score is 1-1 level after goals from Tammy Abraham and Hakan Karhanoglu.
Gullit spoke in an interview with La Gazzetta Dello Sport, explaining why beating Inter and winning the Coppa Italia final is essential for Rossoneri this semester.
He also continued to appreciate the relationship between the club and its supporters, the current lack of “identity” and how Liverpool is an example of how the team moves forward.
“Milan needs to beat Coppa Italia. They want to save the season because it’s a trophy and opens the door to the now closed Europa League,” Garit told Gazzetta.

“We know we’re talking about the title. They’ve already won the Super Coppa this year, and that was a surprise. And I’m not saying that it’s already been forgotten, but it was isolated, that’s a memory.
“The fans aren’t happy. They’re not happy with the team’s play. What’s going on with Chelsea, another club I like, is in the hands of the American owners, and they’re looking at the DNA as well. The fans say, “What’s going on?”
Garit explains how to fix Milan: Liverpool, crop, slot examples

Dutchman went on to explain what Milan needed to do to get fans on board and return to winning ways.
“To be honest, I don’t know. I was there before Christmas for the Genoa Game, which was horrifying. Milan players have a hard time accepting this reality, they don’t recognize it.
“I was talking about DNA because it’s important if you want to rediscover your true nature. I’m thinking about Liverpool. I’m thinking about Liverpool: Klopp to the left, they took the slot, but they didn’t reinvent themselves. People recognize the unique traits of the club.
In contrast to Milan, Garit was able to compete in the Champions League over multiple seasons at the top of the Serie A table, as he believes Inter had cracked the code.
