With a surprise call, Rafael Leo was left in the alternative to Patrick Vieira’s Milan Serie a Match with Genoa on Monday evening. Let me remind you of how Rossoneri worked on Portugal International in its starting lineup.
Leao has been excluded from Genoa-Milan XI
Leao was not included in the starting lineup with Genoa on Monday night, and was replaced by Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who plays behind Christian Pulisic and Luka Jovic in the Russoneri attack.

The first report suggests that this is not a tactical choice or concerns surrounding Leao’s fitness, but a decision to leave Leao off ahead of the Bologna match on Friday night.
How did Milan reach without Leao in 2024-25?
Leao has appeared as an alternative in Serie A so far in 2024-25. He provided two goals and two assists from these seven appearances.
Leao came off the bench in a 2-2 draw with Lazio, 2-0 loss against Napoli, 1-0 victory over Monza, 2-0 victory over Empoli, 1-0 victory over Hellas Verona, 3-2 victory over Lecce and 2-1 defeat against Napoli.
A 2-2 draw against Lazio led to Milan 1-0 at halftime. Milan was delayed 2-1 after two quick fire goals, the 62nd and 66th minutes. Leao appeared in the 70th minute and scored within two minutes.
Leao appeared against Napoli in the 62nd minute with a 2-0 defeat in October, but both of these goals appeared before the Portuguese entered the contest.
Leao appeared 63rd in the next game in a 1-0 defeat against Monza, but had no impact on the goal. Tijjani Reijnders scored the only goal of the game in 43 minutes.
Leao appeared at halftime with a 2-0 victory over Empoli in February. He scored the opener in the 68th minute, with Santiago Guimenez adding another eight minutes later.
Portugal International also appeared as a halftime sub in his next game against Hellas Verona. He ultimately provided an assist for Santiago Guimenez in a 1-0 victory.
Leao appeared again in the interval with a 3-2 victory over Lecce in March. Rossonelli was down 2-0 at halftime, but fought back with three second half goals, including Leao Assist.
Leao recently appeared as an alternative at the end of March with a 2-1 loss against Napoli, but did not contribute in terms of goals or assists.
