The newly promoted Serie A side Cremonese has stopped an exciting deal to bring former Premier League winner Jamie Birdie to the club on a free transfer.
As confirmed at the end of the Serie A deadline, Cremonase signed Vardy on a one-year contract. This includes the option to extend it for another 12 months.
Where does Vardy fit into Cremonese?

The veteran British is expected to become a regular on his new side, but considering he has no preseason at all, it may take a bit longer for his debut.
However, there are plenty of opportunities for him to play later, especially considering Davide Nicola likes 3-5-2 with two centre forwards.
Nicola has already used two completely different combinations of strikers in the first two matches of the Serie A season, starting Federico Bonazoli and David Okereque as they beat Milan 2-1, and Franco Vasquez and Antonio Sanabria won 2-1 in a 3-2 victory at Sassoro on Friday.

But what Vardy brings is a fierce pace that runs backwards and runs deadly targets to a level that Cremonese doesn’t have in his current attacking options, despite his age.
Who will Vardy play with from 2025 to 2026?

Cremonese’s team is not exactly satisfied with common names other than Serie A, but their business has nevertheless been encouraged over the summer.
La Cremo has brought a mix of young people and proved his experience with people like Warren Bond, who was loaned out from Milan.
Giuseppe Petzera and Alessio Zerbin bring a proven Serie a experience to their team, along with Emil Audello and young Filippo Terachiano from Milan.
Between the loan signing, permanents and free relocations, Cremonese has brought 15 players so far. This does not include Vardy, Jeremy Sarmiento, who is expected to take on the loan before the end of the window.
Cremonase starts with flying

Cremonase couldn’t seek a better start to the Serie A campaign. Nicola and his team, who won a promotion from Serie B in the playoffs last season, took a tricky test to start the season against Milan at San Siro, but then went on a 2-1 victory over Massimiliano Alegri over Serie A.
He was then followed up with another encouragement 3-2 victory over the newly promoted Sassolo thanks to a 93-minute penalty on Friday night.
They fined Palermo in the opening round of Coppa Italia, which could benefit the team in the long term, considering they will only compete in Serie A matches from the end of the 2025-26 season.
