Club Brugge midfielder Aleksandar Stankovic left Inter Milan in the summer to embark on a new adventure in Belgium.
Speaking to the Serbian Football Federation via FCInterNews, Stanković admitted that he still follows the Nerazzurri with passion.
Inter have agreed to sell Aleksandar Stankovic to Club Brugge for a fee of 10 million euros in the summer transfer window.
However, the San Siro club recognized the midfielder’s potential and included a buy-back clause in his contract.
They will therefore be able to re-sign the 20-year-old next summer for around 23 million euros.
Stanković, on the other hand, got off to a strong start at Club Brugge.
In fact, he quickly established himself as a regular in the first team at the Jan Breydel Stadium.
Moreover, Cristian Chivu and his colleagues are keenly following the youngster’s progress.
It is therefore difficult to rule out an early return to the San Siro, especially if he continues to perform at this level.
Aleksandar Stankovic proud of his first call-up to Serbia, reiterates his love for Inter Milan
Stanković could make his debut for the Serbian national team in the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
In fact, he qualified as coach Dragan Stojković’s side face Albania and Andorra.
“I’m a Serbian. I always introduce myself like this wherever I go,” Stanković insisted. “I have received several offers to play for Italy, but my answer has always been the same.
“My family is Serbian and I feel Serbian too. Serbia is the only national team I want to play for.”
He later admitted that he received a call from Federico DiMarco congratulating him on his call-up.
“As soon as DiMarco found out, he called me and congratulated me,” Stankovic added. “We are great friends.
“He was very happy because he knows how much this call-up means to me and how much I love Serbia.
“He is proud, as is my entire family. Moreover, he helped me when I decided to move to Lucerne.
“It was last summer and I had an offer from Serie B, but he advised me to go to Switzerland because there was room for me to grow.
“He had played in Sion and knew the level well. It was not easy to leave Italy, but I would make the same choice again.”
Stanković names Hakan Calhanoglu as his idol, praising his good relationship with Cristian Chivu

“I’m happy for Chivu,” Stankovic said when asked about his relationship with Inter Milan’s new manager.
“I know how much he works and how much Inter means to him, and I’m rooting for him wholeheartedly.”
Meanwhile, Stanković had the opportunity to observe Hakan Çalhanoğlu first-hand during his time at the academy.
“Dad is my idol, no doubt about it,” he said firmly. “But I have watched Hakan Calhanoglu closely over the past two years when he was training with Inter’s first team.
“What he does on the field is unbelievable.”
