Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio has confirmed that Denzel Dumfries will join Real Madrid, confirmed that the club wants to sign Curtis Jones and Oumar Solet, and revealed that the club has no intention of releasing Hakan Calhanoglu to Fenerbahce. “They bought all the players in the world.”
Ausilio talks about Inter transfer plans: updates on Dumfries, Jones, Solet, Stanković and Calhanoglu
The Nerazzurri boss was one of the guests attending the Festival della Serie A in Italy over the weekend.
Speaking to reporters at the event, Ausilio revealed some hints about Inter’s possible summer transfer plans.
One player who is almost certain to leave the club is wing-back Dumfries, but Real Madrid have reportedly triggered his release clause.
“I think it’s basically now official that Dumfries, a great player who had a release clause in his contract, is leaving,” Ausilio admitted (via TMW).
Ausilio later added: “Dumfries left. He had a release clause and, more importantly, he wanted to go. He is a player who has given everything for Inter, so I understand the disappointment of the fans, but I am happy for him. This great story has come to an end and I wish him every success at Real. You never know in life. A man who leaves Inter with all his heart. Maybe we will have the chance to see him again.”
Ausilio also confirmed the club’s interest in Liverpool midfielder Jones. In response to those who suggested there was a “minimal” distance between Inter’s offer and Liverpool’s asking price, Ausilio jokingly said:

“The interest in him was there in January and continues to be. Jones is a player we’ve had our eye on for a while. We tried to negotiate in January and we’re going to try again. If we can find common ground, great. If not, we’ll do something else.”
Audilio also confirmed that Inter want to sign Udinese centre-back Soletto: “We are definitely going to do something[defensively]that’s for sure. Darmian and Acerbi’s contracts are expiring, so we have to intervene, even if it’s for the sake of numbers.”
“Soletto is one of the players we are looking at and he is doing well in Italy. But like him, there are other players as well. We are looking to get a good defender for the start of the season.”
Inter also bought Aleksandar Stankovic back from Club Brugge after an excellent first season in Belgium, but it remains to be seen what role he will have to play in the 2026-27 season. Ausilio confirmed that the young Serbian international will be given the opportunity to “audition” in front of Cristian Chivu during pre-session.

“Buying him back is already a sign of great confidence, because we think he has the qualities that current and future Inter players should have. I know he wants to stay and Chivu knows him well. We will start with him and Masolin in pre-season.”
“The young players need space to play and we will try to accommodate that. Stanković is an asset for Inter. Let’s see what happens in the frame.”
There are also reports that Fenerbahce are trying to lure Turkiye international Çalhanoglu away from Inter. Last summer, it was reported that Galatasaray were the ones who had signed an ‘agreement’ for the Nerazzurri midfielder. After last summer’s transfer spree, Ausilio joked that Besiktas might be the next to go, given that Inter and Çalhanoglu completed the domestic double.

“I hope it’s like last season. If the summer melodrama leads to the Scudetto and Coppa Italia, then maybe I should run for the next Besiktas elections (and try to sign Çalhanoglu).”
“I hope they have the resources left, because they have bought players all over the world, even sporting directors and coaches. But there is a problem. Calhanoglu has a contract and Inter want to keep him. I don’t think there is any meaning or continuity in these statements.”
