Francesco Pio Esposito addressed the press ahead of tonight’s Serie A clash between Inter Milan and Fiorentina.
Speaking to DAZN via FCInterNews, the 20-year-old appealed to his teammates to forget about Saturday’s defeat against Napoli.
Inter’s 3-1 defeat at the Maradona Stadium was controversial to say the least.
In fact, referee Maurizio Mariani gave the Partenopei a decisive push in the first half.
Mariani conceded a fantastic penalty and helped Antonio Conte’s side break the deadlock and take a vital lead at half-time.
Although Inter scored a penalty at 2-0, they were unable to recover and lost their winning streak in official matches with seven points.
Napoli’s win over Lecce last night means the pressure is on for the San Siro giants to pick up all three points tonight.
The two teams were six points apart before kick-off, underscoring the importance of a third straight home win against Fiorentina.
Interestingly, the last time Inter achieved that feat was in 2018.
Pio Esposito urges Inter Milan to bounce back against Fiorentina
Francesco Pio Esposito will start tonight’s home match against Fiorentina.
Indeed, Ange-Yoann Bony will make way for the Italian starlet.
“Being in the starting lineup is definitely an important sign from the coach,” Esposito said.
“But no starting spot is heavier than another. The chances that the coach gave me are now in the past.
“What happened in Napoli has been forgotten. We now have a great chance to forget that game.”
Meanwhile, the Inter prodigy admitted that he considers Fiorentina veteran Edin Dzeko his childhood idol.
“I’ll try to show as much as I can,” he continued. “As a kid I watched a lot of his videos and saw him play here in Milan.
“And I love him so much that I won’t deny that I’m inspired by him. I’m definitely going to ask for his shirt.”
Pio Esposito wants to show class in Inter Milan vs. Fiorentina

In a short interview with Inter TV via FCInterNews, Esposito emphasized the importance of winning tonight’s game.
“You better play right away,” he said. “We have a chance to quickly forget the defeat against Napoli and show that it was just a small difficulty.
“That’s a positive thing.”
He also thanked his fans for their support.
“It’s definitely very important and I want to thank them all. I want to give back to everyone in the best way possible.”
Finally, Esposito refused to underestimate Fiorentina despite their poor start to the season.
“Their position in the league table could be dangerous as it does not reflect their true qualities,” he claimed.
“We’re not going to underestimate our opponent and we’re going to go on the pitch with the right attitude.”
