Simone Inzagi has insisted that he will not cancel four years of hard work as an interhead to the weekly Champions League semi-finals after three consecutive losses at Serie A and Coppa Italia.
The Nerazzurri team arrived in Catalonia ahead of the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companies, before the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals. The team will meet again next Tuesday for a reverse fixture in Sanshiro.
Inzagi shared his thoughts at a pre-match press conference and provided his perspective after a characteristically poor execution of the outcome, an analysis of Barcelona, and an update on the situation of Marcus Tulam, Federico DiMarco and Benjamin Pavado.
Inzaghi: “Last week we won’t wipe out the work we did for four years.”
Inter are now in the Champions League semifinals after losing 1-0 to Bologna in Serie A, 3-0 to Milan in the Coppa Italia semifinals and 1-0 to Rome over the weekend before reaching the Champions League semifinals.
Inza claims he is not overly concerned about the shape on his side given his progress from the team over multiple seasons.
“We have had to do better in the last three games, but in four years, when some say it’s difficult to make it into Italy’s top four, we’re competing for all our goals.
“I don’t hear me talk badly about my boys or clubs. I’m grateful to them that I’ve been able to do well over the past four years and can surpass all my expectations.”
One reporter asked if Inzagi was the most challenging week during his tenure.
He replied: “It’s not the most difficult moment for you to enter the Champions League semi-finals. There’s enthusiasm. We’ve come from a bad week and we need to be good in every department to pass a great opponent tomorrow.”
The coach was also asked what he expected to achieve by the end of the 2024-25 season, given that the Serie A title is currently in control of Napoli.
“You have to always have ambitions, we’ve always shown it. We don’t know how the season ends, the league is out of our hands, but in the Champions League, we are the best team in Europe.
“The boys gave it everything. Last week they weren’t that positive, but the team plays with a lot of desire in this semi-final, and we’ll see who gets to the final.”

When asked about left-wing back Federico DiMarco’s status, Inzagi gave the press a brief response, saying, “Let’s take a look.”
He continues: “Today, the team had their first training session with the team. He had none of him since Bayern. We did a good job. In short, he gave us good signs, but we have to evaluate it tomorrow morning.
“The others are all there except Pavad. I can play Bisek, Dalmian, as well as Devrizi as the third defender.”
Inzagi in Barcelona
Inzagi continued to provide Hansiflic’s Barcelona analysis, explaining which parts of their game make them one of the best teams in the world.
“It’s a team we know well. Flick is a great coach who has brought so many organizations to a great offensive team. They are one of the most organized teams in the world when they lose the ball. The offensive players all get better and better.
“This is a team that has been built over time, along with a lot of players who have gone through the youth sector. They have incredible numbers, have won two titles and are competing more.
“We have the utmost respect, but we have no fear. We’re talking about Barcelona, Bayern, Real, City, Arsenal. They’re all great enemies in tournaments where there’s this level of competition, but we’ve had a great journey.
“Everyone has their own philosophy. Bavaria is different from Barca, even if they are similar in some respects. We have to give everything we’ve done over again against Bavaria, with a lot of fluidity. We’ve done a lot of work on video over the last few days and put it today.”
