“We are pleased with him as players and as the man who hugged Florence and Fiorentina with joy. When he’s happy, he can achieve anything.”

These were the words of Fiorentina sports director Daniele Prade at today’s press conference where he discussed the club’s star forward Moise Keene.

The 25-year-old had an impressive first season in Florence, where he scored 25 goals in all competitions and finished as the second Serie A scorer.

Now the striker is about to pick up where he left off last season. He embarks on a new campaign with Fiorentina, but it’s not always so simple sailing for the talented Italian.

From the beginning of Turin to foreign spells and Florence heroes: Moise Keene, career so far

Moise Kean was born in Vercelli, Italy in February 2000 and spent his youth career with Asti and Torino before signing Turin Rivals Juventus in 2010.

Keene spent six years at the Bianconeri Youth System before making his professional debut with the club in 2016, replacing Croatian forward Mario Mandkic in a 3-0 victory over Pescara.

The youngster played four games in the 2016-17 campaign, scored once, and was loaned out to Hellas Verona the following season. At Verona, Keene scored four times in 19 Serie A games and returned to Bianconoli the following season to score six points in 13 league matches.

It was only after that 2018-19 season that Keene left Juventus to join Premier League side Everton, which amounted to the total reported package of 30 million euros. For both Everton and the Striker himself, it was a gamble, but unfortunately it was unrequited.

The Italian scored only twice in Toffey’s 29 Premier League appearances, and was loaned out to PSG the following year for success.

Keene then returned to Everton before the 2021-22 season and then returned to Juventus on a two-year loan, where he was obliged to buy.

The forward had two proper campaigns with Bianconoli on 2021-22 and 23rd 2022, and his transfer was permanent in March 2023. However, Keene failed to score in the 2023-24 season and failed medical in the January transfer window of that year that cancelled the move of a potential loan to Atletico Madrid.

Without a goal in a year, the striker left Juventus in search of a new opportunity and joined Fiorentina.

And the rest is history, as they say. Keene scored 19 goals in 32 Serie A appearances in Raiola’s final campaign, finishing only with compatriot mateo retegui on the Serie A top scorer chart.

When careers see a new life lease, Keene flies for Italy

This year, Mois Keene is not only in great shape for Fiorentina, but he also had an Italian national team.

In March, the 25-year-old scored Italy’s first two goals, returning from three goals to draw 3-3 with Germany in the National League, with the Fiorentina star being added to his tally in Genna Rogatuso’s first two games as head coach against Estonia and Israel.

Keene won the opener with a 5-0 victory over Israel, winning the first two equalizers from Estonia and Italy, 5-0. Adding this to his goal against Germany means that all his strikes are critical with great results for Azzurri.

The Italians have a career full of ups and downs, highs and lows, but in the end it appears to be in a more stable place.

To echo Daniele Prade’s words, “When he is happy, he can achieve anything.” And the forward truly seemed to enjoy life at Fiorentina, bringing success that improved him both nationally and internationally.
