Coach Igor Tudor insisted that Juventus were “on the right path” after the 1-0 loss to Real Madrid, and left the team saying, “I’m disappointed because we deserved at least one point.”
The Bianconeri were on the brink going into the toughest of Champions League games, having recorded just five draws and one defeat in their last six competitive matches.
At the Bernabéu, Dusan Vlahovic and Reus Openda had some chances in particular, but they conceded a number of goals before Jude Bellingham smashed in the rebound that Vinicius flicked inside the far post.
Tudor, Juventus regret in Madrid
Tudor told Sky Sports Italia and Amazon Prime Video Italia: “The players are disappointed because they felt they deserved at least the goal. There are regrets, but we are on the right path.”
“I liked the attitude and the character at the beginning. Of course Real Madrid will always put pressure on us, but we did what we prepared for. We only conceded goals, 3-1 and from the uprights, due to the incredible individual quality of Vinicius.”
“There was a bit of respect and fear of giving a penalty, so no one challenged it. After all, if no one makes mistakes in football, goals will never be scored.”

Coach Tudor said he wanted more determination from his players tonight, and the manager felt he had made some progress.
“Everyone has to be a leader on this team. I think we’re a little below what I would expect in that sense. We’ve got a lot of new players coming in and we’ve lost some of our experienced champions.”
“We have some strengths and weaknesses, but we have to believe in this team because we are on the right track. Comparisons with the past are not helpful, but we have to accept them.”
Was there anything particular about this performance that Tudor didn’t like?
“We were hungry, but when we ran too much we lacked sharpness and a lot of players weren’t used to playing at this level. We know our limits, but I’m happy with our performance, even though no one likes to go home empty-handed.”
This means that Juve have only picked up two points from their first three Champions League games and are currently in the elimination zone.
