Inter Milan legend Marco Mattelcci welcomed the club’s decision to appoint Christian Chib as new head coach.
In his latest interview via FCINTER1908, the 2010 Treble winner admitted that he is hoping for an exciting season in Serie A.
Fifteen years ago, Marco Mattelcci, part of the side of all the conquering sides of Jose Mourinho, etched his name in the history of the club.
Interestingly, he shared the locker room with Christian Chibb.
In fact, the 49-year-old took over the administrative reins from Simoneinzagi on the eve of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Despite the knockout exit of Inter, Materazzi believes Chivu is the right choice for Nerazzurri.

When asked what choice Chivu was, Materazzi had no doubts.
“He has been at Inter for 20 years and knows what it means to be an Intersta.
“He is excellent, he is ready and shows he can coach at first by laying a key foundation with Inter and knows the club is on the flip side.
“In just a few games at Parma, he showed what he was looking for and knew what his team needed.
“Don’t forget what he did against Naples. It wasn’t appealing, they were fighting for survival, and he accomplished it brilliantly.
“He also played against Inter, he got important results, and the opportunity was created.
“Not everyone expects Inzagi to leave, so bolts from the blue.
“The club responded quickly and brought Chivu with us. Chivu was the best choice given what the market offered.”

“Exciting things – everyone is strengthening,” Mathetzi replied when asked about his expectations for 2025/26.
“Milan is focusing solely on the leagues, and Inter is always Inter.
“But every year, our favorites remain the title-winning team.
He then continued to talk about the situation in the dressing room with Inter.
“From the outside, I think it’s a healthy group.
“It is normal after 60 games that stress and tension can occur, but they should stay in the locker room.
“I think when they see each other again, everything will go back to what was before.
“We must not forget the results they have reached together, and they empower the future.”
Additionally, he believes Giovanni Leoni could become one of Serie A’s best defenders.
“If Inter, Milan and Juve all want Leoni, what do you think? Is he ready? Yes.
“The advantage of Inter is that he was coached by them at Parma and they know what to expect from each other.”
In addition to Leoni, Inter maintains a close tab in Genoa’s Coni de Winter.
Materazi believes Belgians are ready to take their careers to the next step.
“I think so,” he replied when asked if the 23-year-old was sufficient for the Nerazuri.
Finally, he offered his verdict to Hakan Karhanogur.
“I don’t have a Karhanogul phone number. I only saw him once. These are things they obviously manage between themselves.
“I would say he’s very important to Inter. These issues are handled face to face. I hope he stays because he’s the champion.
“I hope they can clean the air because what was built this year is so important to throw away like this.”
