Fabio Capello claims that only Kenan Ildis will make it for the Juventus team that won his Scudetto, and he compares Rome’s manager Claudio Ranieri with an “underrated” artist.
The two teams will face off on Sunday at 19.45 UK Time (18.45 GMT) at Stadio Olimpico.
Capello won Serie A titles with both these clubs during his coaching career and spoke to La Gazetta delo Sports about his experiences.
“I would thank him whenever he took me and my wife to dinner at the Vatican with (then Roman President Franco) Sensi and with Scudetto.
“But it was sad that I didn’t say goodbye to leave Rome and do Juventus’ work. It all happened very quickly. I was no longer satisfied with Gialrorossi.
Capello calls on art history to define Juventus and Rome
This is a fight for positions, both looking for a potential top-4 finish that has been activated by changes in coaches.
It was a recent Juve as Igor Tudor replaced Thiago Motta during a break in international obligations.
“I put Juve pizza in the Champions League because I feel they haven’t yet fully demonstrated their potential,” Capello added.
“Thiago Motta asked them to do the bare minimum. The impression is that the team was ultimately confused.
“I am confident that the Ten Coopminers will not be able to remain in the shadow of the great players they admired under Atalanta’s Jean Piero Gaspelini.
Was the new Juventus coach Tudor a part of Capello’s team as Juventus’ defender, so was he already showing signs that he was a working tactician?
“No. Igor surprised me, but I’m very pleased with him. I probably didn’t fully understand him in the role.
Capello was asked by his current team. Who will join the team that won the Scadettes of Rome and Juventus?
“Rome, Paulo Dybara and Mile Svillard are great goalkeepers.
“Yildiz is like the work of Wassily Kandinsky. You need to keep his paintings because their value continues to increase. If I were in Juventus, I would do the same.”
Capello also has a comparison of art history with Roma coach Ranieri, who came out of retirement to activate Giarorossi.
“Ranieri is like Giorgio de Chirico, a great painter who is a bit underrated. Juventus, who chooses Tudor, feels like a revival of figurative paintings in contemporary art.
“Ranieri is special because he doesn’t invent anything new. He looks like simplicity and logic. He places the players in the most appropriate role to motivate them and make the most of their traits.
“Even if they are jealous of the crowd, he gives the players faith.”
