Christian Chib held his first pre-match press conference as Inter head coach ahead of the team’s first match at the FIFA Club World Cup, which will face CF Monterrey early on Wednesday morning on Wednesday (02.00 BST).
Chivu replaced Simone Inzaghi as head coach of Nerazzurri after the final Champions League defeat against PSG, working on many topics including the availability of two new signatures, the state of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram, avoiding everything he knows about his upcoming enemy Montorey.

Chivu: “A chance to see a new signature at work”

Chivu was then asked about his plans to help the team come back from the final competitive match. 5-0 loss to PSG in the Champions League final.
He replied: “We can’t think about the past, we can’t change it. This is the end of the 2024-25 season and we have to think of it as a competition that must be respected for a team like Inter.
“Like we can’t see their mental state, we can’t look for excuses or alivis about our physical state. We are ready and have been making tea with mental and physical acuity over the last few days so that we can perform well.”
There was also a fitness update for Inter’s go-to centre forwards, Lautaro and Salam.
“Lautaro joined us in the US shortly after his national team mission. Marcus had a few more days of rest as he played in the second game for his national team.
Chib also explained everything he knows about his opponent, Monterrey. “Coach Trent knows. Of course, Sergio Ramos doesn’t need to be introduced. If I wasn’t wrong, we’ve played each other several times.
