Jean Piero Gaspelini has revealed how he is trying to improve Artem Dovbyk’s “weaknesses” and Rome still needs to bring it this summer. “The team with the best strikers is the most competitive.”
They took part in a preseason tour in the UK, trained at St. George Park ahead of a friendly match with Aston Villa on August 6th, and then trained Everton on August 9th.
“We are now in the final stages of preparation, and this is an ideal place for the weather, so there are some good tests coming up,” Gasperini told reporters.
This is a brand new project with a fundamentally different style of football, but it’s also a big change for him after nine years working with Atalanta.
“We need to meet some roles, but the team is taking shape. It depends a lot on how strong we are to attack and how strong we can determine the strength of our team. It’s not just us, but for every team, we see that the biggest investment is being made in the forwards.
Gasperini has revamped Rome to suit his football

Rome already has some celebrities up front, but Paulo Dybala is still recovering from serious injuries, but Dovic is struggling with his first Serie A season.
“Dybara has experienced his personalized training schedule with us, but I hope he can return to work with the team next week. Dovic is a big investment, scored goals and showed him that he is a valuable centre forward,” Gasperini said.
“We are working to improve some of his weaknesses, like our ability to link with the rest of the team.
Rome has already brought in several new faces this summer, including Flamengo Wingback Wesley, who was already targeted by Gasperini at his old club.
“He was a player in Rome’s sight and knew him well because Atalanta actually made a deal last year, and that wasn’t all a specific request for me.

Daniele Guilardi has been snapped from Haras Verona with an add-on worth over 10 million euros to bolster his defense. This is currently integrated in a three-person structure.
“He was one of the profiles Rome was looking for, and one of the reasons why I was called here,” Gasperini explained.
“The clubs need to work with young players and develop and build teams that get stronger over time. Young people want to have a great season.”
Among the roles that still need to be met is the role of Trequartista, a creative midfielder who can sit behind a striker.
“We’re pretty much done, but it’s a bit thinner in some areas, so not everyone can participate in 50 games, so we need more players.”
