Fabio Capello believes that the upcoming Derby da Italia will bring a greater challenge for Juventus than Inter, but Nerazzuri will need a return of the “team spirit” lost after the final defeat in the 2025 Champions League.
Inter and Juventus will meet at Allianz Stadium in Turin on Saturday, September 13th.
Former Bianconeri boss Capello previewed the game in a column for Gazzetta Dello Sport.
While Inter has had one win and one loss so far in Serie A, Bianconeri has gathered two consecutive victories. Nevertheless, Capello feels that the Allianz Stadium showdown will bring a major challenge to Igor Tudor’s men.
Capello: Juventus has a great “team spirit”

“More than anything, for the old lady, this is a test to understand whether Bianconeri can really fight for Scudetto. Even with some new arrivals, the team is now quite oily,” writes Capello.
“Dusan Vlahovic is driving his play, but even when he comes in during the game, he plays his role with great will and determination. His case is proof that there is a great team spirit within Juventus.”
Oddly, Vlahovic is currently Juventus’s top scorer with two goals in the opening two games. Serbia International is expected to appear in two alternatives this semester and leave at the end of his contract in June 2026.
The new Inter Signature Manuel Akanji is set to start for Nerazzurri, but Capello doesn’t feel that the Inter problem lies in the defense.
Capello is disappointed with Barrera and Karjanoguru

“Along with him (Akanji), Inter was able to strengthen a team that was already doing very well in the back,” the former England coach wrote.
“However, the most important thing for Nerazzuri is to regain the right spirit in the middle, especially in Karjanoglu. On Sunday, I looked closely at him in the match that Turkey played against Spain in the World Cup qualifiers.
“Even Nicolo Barrera didn’t look like the decisive man he admired in Milan during his international break with Italy. If both need to recover mentally, at a collective level, they need to find the spirit of the team again.
