Bundesliga Side Bayer Leverkusen has announced that manager Xabi Alonso has agreed with the club to end his contract at the end of the 2024-25 season.
Bayer Leverkusen confirmed that Alonso would allow him to leave the club a year before the expiration of his contract, which was scheduled to run until the summer of 2026.
“with Xabi Alonso We wrote a success story just to win a league title without losing in a way that is not seen in German football.” Club Statement.

“He has always been an outstanding ambassador as a coach for both our club and the entire Bundesliga. So we are very grateful to Xabi Alonso.”
Alonso’s announcement means Ancelotti, Madrid and Brazil
Although not specifically confirmed in Leverkusen’s statement, Alonso is expected to replace Italian tactician Carlo Ancelotti as the head coach of Real Madrid.

Madrid has yet to make an official announcement, but earlier this week claims that Ancelotti’s departure will be announced after Lariga’s match against Barcelona on Sunday.
Leaving Madrid means Ancelotti is free to start his expected new role as the Brazilian national team head coach.
Brazil hopes to take on a place in time for Ancelotti to take charge of the team in the June World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Ecuador. Meanwhile, Madrid is hoping to have an alternative head coach in time for the start of the Club World Cup, which begins in mid-June.
What does Alonso’s announcement mean for Fabregas and Como?

And this situation leaves Leverkusen in need of a new head coach. They are not part of the Club World Cup, so they don’t need to arrange the exchange at the beginning of June, but they are expected to move soon ahead of the start of the summer transfer period.
According to an Italian report, COMO head coach CESC Fabregas claims he is one of the names at the top of Leverkusen’s wish list for a position that is soon vacant in the dugout.
Friday’s update claims that Leverkusen has already been in contact with representatives of Fabregas, but the Spaniard has argued several times that his priority is to complete a project that has a starter at Como.
Luckily for Como, there are other candidates considering Leverkusen’s job, including former Manchester United and Ajax head coach Eric Ten Hag.
