Juventus coach Igor Tudor claimed he was “not inferior to anyone” and said the team was in a “deep hole” when he was appointed in March.
Juventus will host Udinese in the final home game of the season on Sunday.
Tudor previewed the game at a pre-match press conference, but most of the questions were about the team’s previous performances and his future with the club.
“The team was well trained and it was a slightly longer week, but we did well,” Tudor said via Ilbian Connello.
Tudor lacks defense and midfield options due to injuries and suspension. Federico Gatti is far from suitable for most of the game.
“What he did, what Gatti can do is the same as the last game,” Tudor said.
Gatti has just recovered from a fracture of his calf and was only introduced in the last five minutes of his previous match against Lazio.
Juventus is fourth in the fourth position with 64 points, but they have a better direct record, so if they win the remaining two matches, they will be in the Champions League.
“I think we did a good job despite all the problems,” Tudor insisted.
Tudor: Juventus in the “deep hole” when I arrived

“It’s not easy when you don’t have a team to play Gatti, Koopmeiners, Yildiz, Cambiaso, Kelly and one guy in two games.
“We have to be brave all the time and know that Juventus has to win. I’m sorry at first, but the team feels that given the circumstances, they’ve done everything they can. Now when I arrive, they’re more aware.
“We won three games at home, but in my opinion there are no easy matches. The coaches are also psychologists as a team,” Tudor continued.
“Coach needs to have different approaches and know what to talk about. If you have Buffon, Ciellini, Bonucci, you speak in one way. When you have another team, you speak differently.”
Kenan Ildis will return to action on Sunday after completing a two-game ban for violent acts.
“He’s suffering from a lot of things. He’s a basic player on the team,” Tudor said.
“I told him not to feel a responsibility to make up for anything. He has to move forward, stay focused on the game and do what he has to do. He knows what to do.”
Tudor will continue to take charge until the Club World Cup, but there is no guarantee that contract extensions will be offered. According to some media, Antonio Conte is Juventus’s main coaching option for 2025-26.
“I live every day, but I don’t think about the future,” Tudor insisted.
“When I ask if I feel I’m inferior to anyone, I say no to anyone.”
