A report on Thursday confirmed that Hakan Karhanoglu and intercoach Simone Inzagi must serve as a one-match ban in a Serie A match against Hellas Verona on Saturday following an investigation into their relationship with Ultra from the Serie A supporter group.
Why were Inzagi and Karhanoguru banned?
A survey of inter, milan, its staff, players and club ultras has been open since November.
An investigation was opened after several Ultra arrests suspected of linking to the Mafia family in September. The arrest was made by fellow supporters in the early September as a result of the murder of Antonio Bellocco, a leading member of Inter’s Curva Nord.
The investigation found that Karhanoglu, Inzagi, Vice President Nerazzuri and Javier Zanetti were in conversation with Ultra, who broke the FIGC rules.
Specifically, it turns out that Inzaghi and Calhanoglu violated Articles 4 and 10 of the Sports Code of Justice.

As a result, Calhanoglu and Inzaghi were handed a ban on one match. This means that Inter will be suspended for an upcoming match against Serie A Verona. The midfielder is given a fine of 30,000 euros and a fine of 15,000 euros.
What to do without Inzaghi and Calhanoglu
This is not the first time Inzagi has had to ban touchlines in Serie A this season. This has happened so far in 2024-25, and the same is expected to happen again in Interverana’s match on Saturday as his assistant Massimiliano Faris faces the touchline.

Intel has many options to replace Carjanoglu with Verona.
Kristjan Asllani was often a go-to alternative when Calhanoglu was not available in 2024-25.
There is another boost to the fact that Piotr Zielinsky returned from the bench from an injury during a 3-3 draw against Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Additionally, Inter occasionally sent Nicolo Barrera in “The Role of Karjanogul” in the emergency this season, and when that happened, David Frattesi played in Barrera’s normal position on the right side of midfield. Asllani is available and Zielinski has returned, but this is an unlikely situation.

What does Karjanoglu and Inzagi mean to Naples and Barcelona?
After a string of 1-0 defeats against Bologna and Roma in Serie A over the last two weeks, Inter no longer controls the title race.
Last week’s 1-0 loss to Roma means Antonio Conte and Napoli have a three-point lead at the top of the Serie A, where four games remain in the 2024-25 season.

Naturally, all Inter has to go without a key player in Karhanogul and an Inzagi head coach will only benefit from Partenopei.
In the second round of the Barcelona Champions League semi-finals, both Inzagi and Kalhanoglu will be involved as usual. Sitting from the game before Barcelona’s second leg is undoubtedly a more advantage for Kaljanoglu.
