Donnaruma reportedly earns an astounding 15 million euros salary during his first season at Etihad.

His move to Manchester comes after PSG signed French international Lucas Scheweiler and then Donnaruma failed to reach an agreement on a new contract extension at Park de Princess. He was in the final year of PSG trading before the Man City trade was made.

City will become the third club in the 26-year-old’s professional career, following his time with Milan and subsequent PSG.

He was brought in despite the fact that Man City signed fellow goalkeeper James Trafford earlier this summer. The British began with all three Premier League matches in the city at the start of the 2025-26 campaign.

“Manchester City is pleased to confirm the signature of Gianluigi Donnaruma from Paris Saint-Germain, which is eligible for international clearance,” the Giants of the Premier League said in a statement.

“The 26-year-old Italian goalkeeper wrote a five-year contract, which will allow him to stay at Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2030.

“In a very impressive career so far, the Italian has established a reputation as one of the best goalkeepers active in the European game.

“Staying 6’5′, a tall, imperative and impressive presence, arrives at Etihad, armed with an elite-level, rich experience.

“He established his career with Italian Giants AC Milan, where he advanced in the ranks of youth and made his senior debut as a 16-year-old, and he continued to compete in a total of over 250, helping Milan unlock the 2016 Italian Supercoppa.

“Donalma then moved across Europe to France in the summer of 2021, promoting his career development and joined Paris Saint-Germain, where he had an immediate and lasting impact.

“During four seasons with Parc des Princes, Donnarumma helped PSG claim a hat trick in the Ligue One Crowns quartet, two Couped France successes, and the title of Trophee Des Champions.

“His stay in the French capital was then crowned in May this year, claiming the Maiden UEFA Champions League title, in which PSG defeated Luis Enrique’s side in an extremely impressive way.”
