Claudio Ranieri has insisted that he will no longer comment on his recent consultation with FIGC about the work of head coaching the Italian national team, but left his final comment, “I respect Italy, but I am from Rome.”

Ranieri recently won the team within one point of Champions League qualifying, finishing his mission as Roma’s head coach, despite sitting in the lower half of the table when he took over from Ivan Juric in November.
He has since held the manager role and has also served as a senior advisor to the club’s ownership.
Ranieri had the opportunity to appoint his role, discuss with Italy and head coach Giampierogas Perini as Rome’s head coach during the Gasp official announcement in front of the media on Tuesday.

All Ranieri said about Rome and Gasperini
“I told him I didn’t like him,” Ranieri joked.
“I mentioned Rome in many people to his name because the club needs a strong personality and a coach who is not satisfied and always wants to improve.
“We offered him a year to make him understand himself, and the fans have to follow him, just like they were behind me. He’s an honest and loyal person. I’ll become a friend.

Ranieri also explained what he wanted to see from Gasperini in his first season.

Ranieri: “I respect Italy, but I’m from Rome.”

Although Ranieri claims it has nothing to do with the report linking him to the work of the Italian national team, there was one final statement to add on the issue.
“A lot has been said. I’m not adding anything else. I respect Italy, but I’m from Rome.”
Lanieri then returned to topics relating to Rome, particularly on the appointment of a new sports director following news of Florent Githolfi’s imminent departure.
“The club is considering some names of replacement sports directors. We don’t know when new people will arrive.”
