Patrick Vieira was visibly pleased after his Genoa side won 3-0 for advances at Coppa Italia.
After the game, in a quote via Tuttomercatoweb, the French coach shared his thoughts on performance, the integration of new arrivals, and the challenges ahead of the Serie A team.
“I’m very pleased with the performance,” Vieira said. “It was a difficult match. Vicenza was organized and in the first half, due to its structure, we couldn’t produce a lot. But I liked the spirit and the way we were trained on the pitch. In the end, we showed that we were physically and tactically strong compared to the last game we played.”

Vieira praises the ambitious Genoa
The coaches highlighted how important a strong approach is to the team’s ambitions. “We want to go as much as possible,” Vieira continued. “The way we got closer to tonight’s game shows us we are ambitious. We’re far from beating Coppa, but tonight was to move on to the next round. These are the most difficult games in football.
The big topic was the role of new signature Nicolae Stanciu, who quickly acquired his manager. “Stanciu has quality, it settles on the pitch, and brings a particularly technical calm,” explained Vieira. “He can score and provide assists. He will help the team get even stronger in the final third.”

Vieira also pointed to the development of young forward Valentin Carbony and revealed the projects around him. “Carboni is a talented player and he showed it today, but physically not 100%,” the coach admitted. “There’s work to do and our goal is to grow him. Last year we saw that. The players who came here have left to another level. The club structure allows us to help improve these players.”
Vieira likes Johann Vazquez’s “Hunger to Win”
With the depths of his team, Vieira was optimistic. “We’re in good condition. We have a team. We saw players like Bench, Erartson, Ecator and Sabery and we didn’t play tonight. We have alternatives, we have options.

Finally, Vieira picked Johann Vazquez as an important figure in the dressing room. “Vasquez showed his qualities again tonight. He’s tough and loves to compete and win. He’s part of the leadership he’s here. He’s a positive example. I love his hunger.”
